PG&E
Below are the Terms and Conditions for the Capacity Bidding Program (“CBP”). Participation in CBP is required for Sunrun customers receiving a storage system rebate from California’s Self-Generation Incentive Program (“SGIP”). CBP is a Sunrun and Voltus managed demand response program that incentivizes energy use reduction during events called by the investor-owned utility (“IOU”). The program is designed to help ease strain on the electrical grid, prevent outages, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Eligibility
To participate in the CBP, customers must meet the following criteria:
-Customers must be Sunrun storage customers in a PG&E territory. Customer eligibility is dependent on utility sub-Load Aggregation Point (“SLAP”).
-Customers may not have another device enrolled in a demand response (“DR”) program either through PG&E or another DR provider. In most cases, enrolling in the CBP will likely cause customers to be unenrolled from Sunrun’s CalReady program.
-Customers will need to sign a Third Party Authorization form to allow Sunrun to receive information or act on the customer’s behalf, and may need to renew the Third Party Authorization periodically throughout the program term.
Prohibited Resource Attestation
-Customers attest that they will not use any Prohibited Resources during main event windows as defined in Section 4 of the Voltus CBP Terms. Prohibited Resources include generation technologies using diesel, natural gas, gasoline, propane, or liquefied petroleum gas, in topping cycle Combined Heat and Power (CHP) or non-CHP configuration.
-If a Prohibited Resource is used during main event windows, the Program Administrators Parties or Utility reserve the right to remove you from the Program.
Program Term
The program term is 10 years from the start of CBP enrollment and is subject to change based on SGIP requirements.
Enrollment Process
By signing these Terms and Conditions you are providing consent for your Sunrun system to be enrolled into CBP, managed by Sunrun and Voltus. Additional customer information needed is outlined in the “Share My Data Authorization and Voltus Terms and Conditions” agreement provided separately. Sunrun will notify you if any additional forms are required.
Unenrollment
If you unenroll prior to the end of the 10-year program term, Sunrun may forfeit the SGIP grant it received for your Sunrun system. As a result, Sunrun will begin charging you the full monthly price under your Sunrun contract and the discounted monthly price will end as of the month that you unenroll. Participation in a DR program is required to qualify for this rebate. If CBP is no longer available you may need to enroll in another DR program as designated by the SGIP requirements to continue receiving your discounted monthly price.
Battery Operations
Sunrun will control and monitor your battery system, providing a hassle-free experience. The program season is May 1 through October 31 annually. During this season, there can be up to 6 events called per month or 30 hours per month with up to 3 consecutive event days. There is a maximum of one event called per day and events may last between 1 and 5 hours. Additionally, PG&E may call “Emergency Only” events due to a California Independent Operator Flex Alert, and Sunrun will decide whether to respond to those events. Outside of event windows, your battery will behave according to the terms in your Customer Agreement.
Sunrun will determine the amount of energy dispatched during an event based on your typical home usage in a monthly nomination or “bid.” On event days your device settings may be overridden to satisfy event requirements. The table below outlines the main event windows:
May | Non-holidays, Monday - Saturday | 5 p.m. - 10 p.m.
June | Non-holidays, Monday - Saturday | 4 p.m. - 9 p.m.
July | Non-holidays, Monday - Saturday | 4 p.m. - 9 p.m.
August | Non-holidays, Monday - Saturday | 4 p.m. - 9 p.m.
September | Non-holidays, Monday - Saturday | 4 p.m. - 9 p.m.
October | Non-holidays, Monday - Friday | 4 p.m. - 9 p.m.
Once the program term is complete batteries will resume normal modes of operation. However, in regions with active grid services programs, Sunrun may automatically enroll your device. Please refer to your Service Agreement for additional details.
