“Sunrun & Reliant Energy Distributed Power Plant Program”
Terms And Conditions
Below are the full participant Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) for the Sunrun & Reliant Energy Distributed Power Plant (DPP) Program (the “Program”). This Program offers qualifying Sunrun battery customers that are simultaneously enrolled in a qualifying Reliant Energy Plan (i.e. “Program Participants”), to earn an incentive for sharing energy from their battery to help reduce stress on the grid.
Program Eligibility
Participants must meet the following eligibility criteria:
Have an installed battery system (“Device”) and an active customer agreement in good standing with Sunrun;
Be an electricity account holder of Reliant in good standing and enrolled in a qualifying electricity plan at the time of any Program Event and for the duration of your participation in the Program;
Have an active/signed interconnection agreement with your local Transmission and Distribution Service Provider (“TDSP”) to connect the battery on your property to the grid;
Personally receive an invitation from Sunrun to participate in the Sunrun & Reliant Energy Distributed Power Plant Program from Sunrun Inc. or a Sunrun-authorized sales representative during the Promotional Period;
Have an Advanced Meter installed by your TDSP that separately measures the in-flow and out-flow of electricity to and from your home;
Have the Device on your property connected to the Internet via an active Wi-Fi, ethernet or LTE cellular network at the enrolled account service address;
Remain in compliance with all the terms and conditions of your contract with Sunrun at all times during the term of the Program; and
Have not been designated by their TDSP as a Critical Care or Chronic Condition Residential Customer.
Program Term
Participants in the Program authorize Sunrun to operate their battery system, as needed for the Program, for up to five (5) years from the date of enrollment (the “Program Term”). The Program Term will be terminated in the event that the Participant no longer meets the eligibility criteria above or is otherwise disqualified from participation.
The Program Term is subject to Sunrun’s discretion to continue operating this Program. Sunrun reserves the right to amend these Terms, suspend or discontinue Program participation at any time during the Program Term. Participants may be automatically re-enrolled in subsequent Program Terms at Sunrun’s discretion, subject to the then-current terms and eligibility for the Program.
Program Participant Disqualifications
Sunrun or Reliant may terminate a Participant’s enrollment in the Program at any time and without liability upon notice via email if a Participant: i) violates the Terms or applicable law, ii) if a Participant does not comply with any reasonable request from Sunrun or Reliant in connection with this program, iii) if their account with Sunrun or Reliant Energy is no longer in good standing, or iv) if Participant does not maintain a continuous connection between their participating Device and Sunrun’s monitoring system, including internet connection.
Unspecified Consent
Unless a Participant chooses to opt out by written notice to Sunrun as set forth in the next paragraph, they hereby consent to participate in this Program. Participants agree that their enrollment is voluntary and that they have read and acknowledged these Terms.
Unenrollment/Withdrawal
Participants may opt out of the Program at any point by contacting Sunrun at grid@sunrun.com. Opting out prior to the end of the Program Term will result in no longer being eligible for the Sunrun Incentive effective immediately.
Opting out of the Program by contacting Sunrun does not change your retail energy service. Participants reserve the right to change their retail energy service provider and/or leave a qualifying Reliant Energy service plan, but doing so will result in an immediate withdrawal from the Program.
Battery Operations
Sunrun will control and monitor each Participant’s Device. Reliant Energy will notify Sunrun when a Program Grid Event occurs, at which time participating battery systems will be automatically programmed by Sunrun to send energy to the home and local grid.
Enrolled Devices will participate in no more than 30 Program Events each year. A Program Event will occur for up to two hours at a time and can take place on any given day during the Program Term, up to twice per day, including weekends and holidays. On Program Event days, Device settings may be overridden to satisfy event requirements. After Program Event hours, Devices will automatically resume pre-program behavior. Sunrun may conduct up to 10 additional tests annually to confirm battery system functionality.
For the duration of the time Participant is enrolled in a qualifying Reliant Plan, Sunrun will program the Device to maximize benefits under the plan. Sunrun reserves the right to modify and override settings, including grid charge, export, settings mode, etc.
Participants’ Device will be programmed to reserve 20% of overall capacity to power their home for resiliency during power outages. Participants’ Device will not send any power to the grid during an outage.
If a Participant determines any Device deficiencies, problems, operational issues, or wants to no longer participate in the program, they must contact Sunrun at grid@sunrun.com.
Sunrun Incentive
For participating in the Sunrun & Reliant Energy Distributed Power Plant Program, participants are eligible for one of the following Incentives as applicable based on system ownership (the “Sunrun Incentive”):
For customers who own their systems, a $200 Reward Card in the first year after enrollment, delivered after the battery has been successfully enrolled and meets eligibility criteria above, or
For customers whose systems have third-party ownership (i.e., not owned by customer), a $20.00/month bill credit for up to five (5) years after enrollment, paid monthly at the end of each qualifying month of Program enrollment.
This Sunrun Incentive may not be combined with any other offer or promotion issued by Sunrun related to this Sunrun & Reliant Energy Distributed Power Plant Program or any other distributed power plant program offered by Sunrun.
Participants are required to have a valid email address on file with Sunrun in order to receive instructions for claiming the Sunrun Incentive described above. All capitalized terms not defined herein, shall have the meaning ascribed in the Offer Terms and Conditions.
Reliant Energy Retail Services, LLC may offer an incentive, separate from the Sunrun Incentive, which is subject to separate terms that will be shared with in connection with your agreement with Reliant, as applicable.

If Sunrun issues a reward card, the Participant’s ability to claim the Sunrun Incentive expires three (3) months from the date such reward card is sent via email to the Participant for redemption. Sunrun shall not be responsible for, and hereby disclaims any liability related to, any incentive offered by Reliant.
