During the day, your Sunrun solar panels power your home and charge your battery. Reliant provides retail electricity plans through which you purchase electricity from the grid. With the Reliant Truly Free Nights plan you pay nothing for the electricity you use between 8 PM to 6 AM, providing a 24/7 reliable, affordable energy solution. Plus, when you sign up for a qualifying Reliant electricity plan, Sunrun will automatically enroll your battery in the Texas GridReady which can use your battery to supply electricity to the grid during times of high demand.  Once your battery is participating, you can earn $20/month from Sunrun*.

Your Sunrun battery is designed to detect outages instantly. If the grid fails, whether it’s during the day or the middle of the night, the backup battery system seamlessly engages.

When you sign up for a qualifying Reliant electricity plan, Sunrun will automatically enroll your battery in the Texas GridReady program.  During times of high energy demand on the grid (like a summer heatwave), the Sunrun battery will send its excess energy to the grid. In exchange, you receive bill credits on your monthly Sunrun statement*. 

Yes, between 8pm and 6am, you can use all the power you need for free, no energy or delivery charges. Simply, free power.
