*Solar Property Tax Exemption eligibility will depend on household’s municipality. To see if your municipality is eligible, click here.

**Customer’s ability to monetize rebates, incentives and tax credits depends on several factors, including, without limitation, continued state subsidization of these policies, the applicable Sunrun product type, and whether a customer purchases or leases a solar system from Sunrun.

Property Tax Exemption

If you purchase a home solar system in New Hampshire, you may also be exempt from paying property taxes on the value the system adds to your home.* Many municipalities have adopted local ordinances that require assessors to subtract all or a portion of the system’s value added to your home when establishing the home’s value.1 That’s a pretty big deal, considering buying your solar system will increase the value of your home.2 See if your municipality is eligible for a Solar Property Tax Exemption

Federal Solar Tax Credit

In addition to New Hampshire’s state solar tax credits, you’d also be eligible for the federal solar tax credit if you buy your own solar system outright.3 The tax credit amounts to 30% of the cost of purchasing your solar system. The federal solar tax credit gives you a dollar-for-dollar reduction against your federal income tax. The 30% tax credit applies as long as the home solar system is installed by December 31, 2019. Starting in 2020, the value of the tax credit will step down to 26%, and then again to 22% in 2021. After 2021, the tax credit for residential solar ends.
