Sunrun NY GridReady season

The summer season takes place from May through September. Grid events can occur any weekday and last up to 4 hours. There are expected to be no more than 20 event days during the summer season.

Yes. NY GridReady is a Sunrun distributed power plant (DPP). Sunrun manages the coordination between your system, your home and the grid. Sunrun customers who participate receive the benefits directly from Sunrun.

NY GridReady is available to qualifying Sunrun solar & storage customers in certain New York utilities . Eligible customers will be contacted by Sunrun via email, notifying them that they qualify and are enrolled before the start of each Sunrun NY GridReady season.

Following the conclusion of each Sunrun NY GridReady summer season participants will receive more information directly from Sunrun regarding their payment. Sunrun will notify participants when the payment is available each year.

Sunrun batteries are equipped with smart features that prioritize your energy needs while maximizing earnings in Sunrun NY GridReady. Sunrun will seamlessly control and monitor your system. Throughout the season, Sunrun may signal your system to send energy to your home during peak demand. Otherwise, your system will operate under default optimized settings.

During a power outage your battery system will not send any power to the grid. Storm Watch (an automatic Sunrun setting for any non-Tesla Powerwall systems or customer-enabled in the Tesla app for Powerwalls) will keep participants' homes prepared for critical storms and severe weather. Participating systems maintain a minimum 20% backup reserve in case of power outages.

Yes, in addition to the perks of NY GridReady, to help maximize your electric bill savings, your system will also be automatically optimized to earn peak rate offsets under NY Utilities Time-of-Day (TOD) tariff Rate 194. If you believe this tariff does not match your current billing plan, please contact us at grid@sunrun.com.

Yes, you can opt out of Sunrun NY GridReady at any time by sending an email to grid@sunrun.com. Please note, those that opt out before the end of the performance season will not be eligible to receive the payment.

Only Sunrun solar & storage customers located in New York in qualifying utility territories are eligible. Sunrun customers can only participate in Sunrun Distributed Power Plant programs, dual enrollment is not permitted. Contact grid@sunrun.com if you have questions about your eligibility.
