Grid Parity

Definition

Grid Parity:

Grid parity happens when our use of alternative energies – like solar – costs less than, or equal to, the price of using power from conventional sources such as coal, oil and natural gas (i.e., fossil fuels).

Sunrun Explains:

The price of solar power has continued to fall so that in many countries it is cheaper (and healthier) than using fossil fuel electricity from the grid. When we talk about the power grid we’re referring to the network that delivers electricity to our homes. This network consists of electrical power stations, high voltage lines that carry power to demand centers, and distribution lines that eventual send power to our homes.
